I’ve had some amazing adventures in advertising. From camping out under the stars in the Sinai Peninsula with Bedouins, to sharing an elevator with Jerry Garcia. But I decided it was time for a change.
So after 13 years at McKinney & Silver Advertising as a partner and senior vice president, I opened Steve Davis Design in 1998, a freelance art direction and graphic design studio. The work here spans the gamut from digital to print, and design to advertising.
I have created national campaigns for accounts such as Audi Automobiles, Piedmont Airlines, two international cruise lines, Karastan Carpets, Fieldcrest Towels, Hunter Ceiling Fans and Bacardi Liqueurs.
Assignments have taken me to such far-flung locations as Germany, Egypt, Morocco, all parts of the Caribbean, and New Orleans (which just seems like another country).
My work has been a Kelly semi-finalist twice, earned Clio, One Show, Art Director’s Club and Communication Arts awards, along with recognition in industry publications such as Graphis, Print, Advertising Age and Creativity. I was named by Adweek magazine as Southeast Art Director of the Year.
I graduated from the North Carolina State University College of Design, with a degree in Visual Design. I’m currently serving on the Designlife Board at the college.
I live in Raleigh with my wife, Karen Sinclair, and son, Neill.
